Tri-City Film exists to promote local independent filmmakers. David Briggs launched the site on April 29, 2011 and will continue to administer all of this until people in the area stop making films.
What cities constitute the Tri-City? Most (well, all) would agree that Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge can claim that honour. But what if we went out on a limb and included Guelph? Yes, that would make four cities, and its inclusion would also negate the Tri-City concept. Since everyone loves Guelph, we will include it here and apologize in advance to the mapmakers, tax takers, and the hardcore defenders of the Tri-City’s geographic barriers.
The point of Tri-City Film is to help connect people interested in local film to what local filmmakers are doing. Anyone producing film in and around these cities is encouraged to contact us and keep in touch.
One more note on geography. Although this site prefers to tell the stories of filmmakers local to the Waterloo Region, sometimes exceptions occur. If someone is working on something great, or is putting together a festival or compilation that may be of interest to Tri-City Film readers, then we will certainly cover it.
Enjoy the site, and welcome to Tri-City Film!
